Modal is building the infrastructure layer for AI workloads. The company recently raised a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation and has crossed $300M+ ARR, growing fivefold since September. Customers include Lovable, Ramp, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno, relying on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage for low-latency inference, fine-tuning, and production-ready sandboxes at scale.
As the first dedicated GTM recruiter on the Talent team, you will own full-cycle recruiting for sales, GTM, and G&A functions end-to-end. You'll work closely with the Head of Talent, founders, and GTM leads to shape hiring strategy and bring in key people who will define Modal's future.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive full-cycle recruiting for key hires across GTM and G&A functions (sourcing, pitching, guiding interviews, closing candidates)
- Partner with GTM leaders to understand the real work and calibrate on what great looks like
- Help set hiring bar and talent evaluation criteria
- Execute creative top-of-funnel strategies that resonate with experienced GTM talent
- Deliver a fast, respectful, honest candidate experience
- Bring an equity lens to every stage of the process
- Use data and market context to keep searches on track and expectations aligned
- Support candidates as a trusted guide through high-stakes decisions
Requirements:
- Deep expertise in GTM recruiting with demonstrated success in challenging searches
- Curiosity and ability to ask the right questions; genuine interest in understanding how things actually work
- Influence through insight and honesty rather than volume
- Speed and clear communication, even in ambiguous situations
- Strong closing ability with early trust-building and proactive concern management
- Steadiness when priorities shift; ability to recalibrate without losing momentum
- Genuine care for people and commitment to delivering thoughtful, fair, human candidate experience throughout the process
