REGENT is developing Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that travel just above water at 180 mph with 180-mile range on current battery technology. The company is scaling from prototype to full production of its commercial Viceroy program. As a Systems Engineer on the Certification team, you will own the requirements foundation for assigned Seaglider systems. This is a hands-on, artifact-producing role focused on authoring, managing, and verifying requirements that trace back to regulatory documents and safety analyses. You will work directly with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering team leads to derive and verify requirements, author verification procedures, and conduct system safety analyses. Key responsibilities include: - Deriving and verifying system, high-level, and low-level requirements, and creating verification programs to confirm them - Working with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure requirements are tracked, providing design input and guidance - Tracing requirements to their source in regulatory documents and standards, maintaining traceability as design evolves - Conducting system safety analyses including Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) - Supporting certification compliance for international and domestic requirements - Managing requirements in tools to ensure audit-ready accuracy and traceability - Recommending improvements to REGENT's systems engineering processes as the team scales You will be a collaborative systems thinker who builds strong working relationships across disciplines, comfortable working in ambiguity on problems without established precedents. You bring strong technical opinions and depth while asking good questions and challenging assumptions constructively. You have a builder mindset, looking for ways to improve tools, processes, and technical practices. REQUIREMENTS: - Demonstrated experience working independently on safety-critical systems in regulated environments (aerospace, maritime, medical, nuclear, or equivalent) - Strong requirements engineering experience: developing, documenting, tracing, and maintaining technical requirements throughout development lifecycle - Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as Jama, Polarion, DOORS, or equivalent - Experience with system-level testing and verification, including developing test/verification approaches - Experience developing system safety and risk analyses (FHA, FTA, FMEA) - Technical foundation allowing effective work across engineering disciplines (aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, electrical, mechanical, controls) - Flying, sailing, or boating experience is a plus - This is an individual contributor role with meaningful technical ownership, not a people management position
