Lithios is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development and execution of capital projects featuring Advanced Lithium Extraction (ALE) technology. You will work across the full project lifecycle—from concept and design through construction, commissioning, and startup—serving as a key technical leader and interface between the company, EPC contractors, technology providers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
In this role, you will lead systems engineering activities and own the technical integrity of complex, multidisciplinary industrial projects. Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing system and subsystem requirements, equipment specifications, datasheets, design criteria, and technical documentation. You will maintain a comprehensive understanding of the entire process flowsheet, including feedstock pre- and post-treatment, extraction, water management, and reagents/utilities. You will serve as the primary technical interface to EPCs, reviewing their deliverables, challenging assumptions, and ensuring alignment with project requirements.
You will coordinate across process, mechanical, electrical, controls, civil, and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper system integration. You will participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), commissioning, and startup activities. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to other project team members, helping them navigate complex technical challenges.
The ideal candidate is a systems thinker equally comfortable in high-level strategy and granular technical details. You can understand the overall objectives of a complex facility while also diving deep into equipment specifications, vendor packages, and P&IDs. You are comfortable working with partner companies from the Owner's perspective—able to critically review engineering work, challenge assumptions, and ensure the final design meets technical, operational, and commercial objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including significant experience with complex, multidisciplinary industrial or process facilities projects
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other relevant engineering disciplines considered
- Experience working with contractors and/or engineering consultants is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly with specifications, datasheets, drawings, calculations, and complex engineering packages
- Ability to identify issues and inconsistencies that others may overlook
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Ability to manage complexity, work across disciplines, and drive technical issues to resolution
- Experience with DLE (Direct Lithium Extraction) or lithium processing is valuable but not required
- Demonstrated ability to understand and execute projects involving complex process technologies
