Omnea is a Series B AI-native procurement platform that has raised $75M from top-tier VCs (Khosla Ventures, Insight Partners, Accel) and is trusted by enterprises like Spotify, MongoDB, Monzo, and Albertsons. The company has 10x'd ARR to double-digit millions in 18 months and is recognized as Europe's 4th fastest-growing startup and the Sunday Times' #1 Best Medium Sized Tech Company To Work for.
You'll join the Engineering Acceleration team within Platform Engineering, building the tools and infrastructure that enable Omnea's engineers to develop, test, and ship software more effectively. This team develops and operates systems supporting AI-assisted software development, including agent tooling, context management, development environments, and automated validation.
Key responsibilities:
- Build systems for AI-native software engineering: develop tooling and infrastructure enabling engineers to delegate substantial work to agents (investigation, implementation, testing, code review), and improve context, execution environments, and feedback loops so agents can handle increasingly complex tasks reliably.
- Improve development and testing environments: build infrastructure for reproducing problems, running applications, and verifying changes; enhance development environments, previews, and automated validation.
- Evaluate quality and impact: create evaluations for agent behavior and test changes to context, tools, and configuration against representative engineering tasks; measure effects on correctness, review effort, reliability, and cost.
- Identify and address engineering bottlenecks: collaborate with engineers across Omnea to identify friction in development, testing, and delivery; prioritize improvements based on impact and measure results.
- Lead tooling selection and adoption: assess emerging tools, make build-versus-buy decisions, and spearhead selection and rollout of an agentic development platform (ADP).
- Own systems through delivery and operation: take responsibility for technical design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing operation; build for reliability and maintainability with appropriate observability, access controls, and recovery mechanisms.
You'll work across the full stack (TypeScript, React, Postgres, AWS serverless infrastructure, SST, Pulumi, GitHub Actions, Datadog), collaborate directly with product engineers and other Platform Engineering teams, and help shape how engineers and agents design, build, and verify software at Omnea.
The company works in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at their London office. They offer competitive geo-localized benefits and have an employee Future Founders fund.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: experience designing, shipping, and operating production software; sound judgment in system design, testing, and reliability; ability to diagnose failures across application and infrastructure boundaries.
- Practical AWS serverless experience: built or maintained serverless infrastructure on AWS, deployment pipelines, or development environments; understand trade-offs around access control, isolation, observability, reliability, and cost.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development: applied coding agents to software development; understand their capabilities and failure modes; practical experience with context, tools, and verification needed to use them effectively.
- Product engineering background: worked as a product engineer shipping user-facing features; bring that mindset to internal tooling; translate developer needs into well-designed tools and services; evaluate success through adoption, user feedback, and measurable improvements.
- Independent execution: scope ambiguous technical problems, assess alternatives, and deliver projects without detailed specification; make considered trade-offs between delivery speed, reliability, and long-term maintenance.
- Effective collaboration: communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly; work constructively across team boundaries; incorporate feedback; share knowledge and contribute to engineering practices.
Note: The posting encourages applications even if experience doesn't perfectly match the full spec, and emphasizes diversity and inclusion.
