The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo transport and eventual human missions. This Supply Chain Quality Engineer role bridges supplier quality management and manufacturing operations, reporting to the quality function.
In the supply chain quality domain, you will define and enforce supplier quality requirements in proposals and contracts, conduct surveillance of contract execution, engage suppliers on nonconformance resolution, participate in quality gates, and accept subcontracted deliverables through review boards.
Within Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration & Test (MAIT) operations, you will plan and execute quality inspections at incoming, key manufacturing stages, and pre-delivery phases. You'll support nonconformance detection and documentation, assist Material Review Board activities, lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions, and coordinate with engineering teams.
Day-to-day responsibilities include providing quality support to MAIT teams, reviewing and approving procedures, monitoring compliance with internal standards and aerospace regulations (AS9100, EN9100), qualifying special processes (welding, NDT), training staff, and coordinating calibration activities.
You will also drive continuous improvement by leading quality projects, analyzing quality data to identify trends, and collaborating cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
Required: Bachelor's in engineering or related field; minimum 3 years in quality assurance, preferably in aerospace, space, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing; knowledge of EN/AS9100 and ISO 9001; strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inspection techniques, and GD&T; experience with nonconformance management and root cause analysis tools (8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa); proficiency in FMEA, control plans, and statistical analysis; Microsoft Excel proficiency; desirable: Power BI, welding experience.
