Standard Nuclear is building advanced nuclear manufacturing capabilities to support America's nuclear energy expansion. The Supply Chain Engineer role bridges technical requirements and operational execution, translating engineering specifications into sourcing, material planning, and logistics strategies that enable reliable, cost-effective production. You will own the end-to-end supply chain for components, materials, and equipment—from engineering review through supplier qualification, procurement, and delivery. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position requiring close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and external suppliers. Key responsibilities include: **Engineering & Technical Sourcing**: Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials to identify sourcing needs. Evaluate and qualify vendors, components, and equipment against technical, quality, schedule, and commercial criteria. Partner with engineering and quality teams on supplier qualification, technical evaluations, substitutions, and make-or-buy decisions. **BOM & Material Planning**: Develop and maintain accurate bills of materials, item data, and sourcing status. Track critical materials from supplier commitment through receipt. Identify long-lead and high-risk items early and develop mitigation plans to maintain material readiness. **Cost & Lead-Time Optimization**: Drive cost reduction and lead-time improvements across the bill of materials without compromising technical or quality requirements. Evaluate supplier quotations, cost drivers, and commercial terms. Identify opportunities for standardization, alternate sourcing, volume leverage, and improved delivery performance. **Supply Risk & Issue Resolution**: Identify and resolve supply issues including vendor delays, logistics constraints, material shortages, quality concerns, and changing engineering requirements. Develop mitigation and recovery plans for supply risks that could affect manufacturing schedules or operational continuity. Maintain clear visibility of supplier commitments and escalation items. **Logistics & Cross-Functional Coordination**: Establish and optimize logistics processes across domestic and international supply chains. Coordinate shipment planning, delivery timing, and receiving readiness. Communicate logistics status and delivery risks across all stakeholder teams. Support development of scalable sourcing, material planning, and supplier management processes as manufacturing operations grow. Build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Maintain accurate supply chain documentation and records to support traceability, audits, and continuous improvement. The role is based in Oak Ridge, TN and involves work across office, warehouse, manufacturing, and supplier-facing environments. Regular interaction with internal teams and external suppliers is expected, along with occasional travel to suppliers or logistics partners. Work may include time in production or material-handling areas; use of required PPE and adherence to site safety, quality, security, and operational procedures is required. **Requirements:** - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field - 3–6 years of experience in supply chain, technical sourcing, procurement, supplier management, material planning, manufacturing engineering, or related work - Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of materials, and engineering-controlled documentation - Demonstrated experience sourcing direct materials, components, equipment, or capital items in a manufacturing, industrial, technical, or regulated environment - Strong understanding of supplier selection, quotation analysis, cost drivers, lead-time management, logistics, and supply risk mitigation - Experience with ERP, MRP, procurement, inventory, or material planning systems; NetSuite or similar systems preferred - Strong analytical skills with ability to organize supply chain data, identify risks, and communicate clear recommendations - Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, operations, and external suppliers - Familiarity with quality requirements such as NQA-1, supplier qualification, configuration control, or traceability is a plus - Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
