Physical Intelligence is developing foundation models and learning algorithms to power robots and physically-actuated devices. This Supply Chain Engineer role is part of the hardware team and owns end-to-end sourcing strategy and supplier execution across the full robot bill of materials—including actuators, motors, gearboxes, sensors, compute modules, PCBAs, harnessing, and mechanical assemblies.
Key responsibilities include building and expanding a resilient global supply base through supplier selection, capacity planning, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation. You will establish sourcing processes, metrics, and supplier performance management frameworks appropriate for a rapidly scaling robotics organization. The role owns BOM cost targets as the platform scales from pilot builds to large-scale deployment, driving cost improvements through negotiation, should-cost analysis, and value engineering.
You will partner closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and compute engineering teams to drive design for manufacturability, supply chain resilience, and cost optimization. Responsibilities include ensuring material continuity across in-house and outsourced manufacturing, determining order quantities, running RFQ/RFP processes, and driving inventory accuracy and forecast efficiency using MRP/ERP systems.
Additional duties involve developing multi-source strategies for critical and allocation-sensitive components (including high-performance compute) and proactively mitigating geopolitical and single-source risks. You will negotiate pricing, lead times, allocation, and commercial agreements to meet aggressive cost, quality, and production targets. The role leads the transition from prototype and in-house manufacturing toward contract manufacturing, including CM selection, qualification, onboarding, and operational scaling.
You will support NPI and production ramp activities with suppliers and manufacturing partners across Asia Pacific and other global regions, and perform supplier financial research, spend analysis, and cost/capacity scenario analysis to synthesize findings and communicate supply risks to engineering and executive leadership.
