xAI is seeking a Data Center Operations Supervisor to lead technical operations at its Memphis facility. In this hands-on management role, you will oversee a team of data center technicians responsible for maintaining server, storage, compute, and network infrastructure across data centers and global points of presence.
Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring technicians, overseeing installation and maintenance of hardware, optimizing data center operations (power, cabling, fiber optics, decommissioning), developing and enforcing standard operating procedures and safety protocols, and coordinating with engineering and provisioning teams on hardware intake and repair. You will manage operational tickets via Jira, collaborate on network design and implementation, drive efficiency initiatives to reduce downtime, and provide on-call support for critical events. The role focuses on two core metrics: mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to repair (MTTR).
Required qualifications include a high school diploma, 5+ years of hands-on experience with server, storage, compute, and network hardware, 5+ years troubleshooting and repairing infrastructure, and proven leadership in a data center or technical operations environment. Preferred skills include strong Linux proficiency, Python/Bash scripting, data center infrastructure project leadership, structured cabling knowledge, and power/cooling concepts.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 35 lbs unassisted, comfort working at heights up to 50 feet with safety gear, and tolerance for noise exposure. The position requires schedule flexibility including evenings and weekends based on operational needs. Background checks are required pre- and post-employment.
