Reserv is a venture-backed insurtech (funded by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures) automating claims processing through AI and automation technology. Founded in 2022 by insurtech veterans, the company serves TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters.
As Subrogation Team Lead, you will own both tactical execution and strategic advancement of Reserv's subrogation operations. This is a hands-on leadership role blending direct oversight with operational coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary point of contact for all third-party subrogation vendors, managing workflows, deadlines, demands, negotiations, and escalations
- Monitor and track open subrogation files, recovery status, aging demands, and follow-up cycles
- Review vendor documentation, correspondence, and recovery outcomes for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure team meets Reserv expectations for responsiveness, process consistency, and cycle time performance
- Coordinate with claims teams to ensure complete and accurate referral information is provided to vendors
- Identify performance gaps, service issues, and missed opportunities; drive remediation
- Maintain subrogation reporting including recovery trends, cycle time visibility, and vendor performance metrics
- Support internal partners (claims, legal, operations) with clear updates, insights, and data on subrogation activity
- Recommend improvements and alignment opportunities across vendors to strengthen recovery performance
- Develop and enforce compliant internal policies and procedures
- Serve as SME for first-line questions, escalations, and roundtable discussions
- Provide backup/leadership when manager is out of office
- Foster positive work environment, promote teamwork, and encourage professional growth
- Prepare and present comprehensive claims reports, metrics, and analyses to clients and customers
- Lead or co-lead workshops on subrogation topics and trends
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to claims recoveries
You will need flexibility to switch between hands-on claims handling and coaching/feedback, agility to pivot focus quickly, and the ability to work in an evolving, fast-paced environment. This role blends operational strength with strategic thinking to support long-term recovery performance and client satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in claims, subrogation, operations, or related field
- At least 3+ years of experience handling subrogation recovery for auto and/or property claims
- 2+ years in a leadership capacity, including arbitration experience
- Strong understanding of liability, comparative negligence, and recovery principles
- Experience working with or coordinating external subrogation partners (preferred)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with claims systems, arbitration forums, or subrogation workflows (preferred)
- Tech-friendly and comfortable using dashboards, claims systems, and data to guide decisions
- Proactive, accountable, and able to drive follow-through independently
- Positive and pragmatic; able to stay steady under pressure in a complex domain
