Salary: GBP 70,000 - 85,000 / annual
Citymapper, a Via company, is a mobility platform that helps millions of people navigate complex cities by providing access to current and sophisticated transport options. As Strategy & Operations Manager, you will lead a talented team of Data Analysts responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of Citymapper's data across web and mobile products.
In this hands-on leadership role, you will coach and develop your team, remove blockers, and create conditions for them to succeed. You'll sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and commercial teams, helping set priorities, solve complex problems, and drive meaningful improvements for users.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team of Data Analysts, fostering an environment where people can do their best work
- Own data strategy and quality for your region, ensuring millions of users can rely on the platform daily
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to align priorities and deliver high-impact improvements
- Shape the evolution of team tools, workflows, and automation by partnering with engineers to build scalable systems
- Turn complex datasets into actionable insights that guide decisions and drive product improvements
You will work in a hybrid model at the spacious office near Chancery Lane, with weekly team lunches and flexible working arrangements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience as a people leader: direct management and team development experience, with a track record of coaching, giving thoughtful feedback, and creating environments where people grow and succeed
- Strong operator with 4+ years in operational, technical, product, or cross-functional roles; comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing competing priorities, and finding solutions in unclear situations
- Technical comfort: ability to engage with data and product work, understand complex problems, and build trust with technical teams (need not be the most technical person)
- Strong project management skills: ability to bring structure to complex work, keep multiple priorities moving, and balance attention to detail with the bigger picture
- Clear communicator who builds trust quickly across functions and is comfortable in engineering discussions, product conversations, and business planning sessions
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with data, Python, and/or common transit data formats (GTFS, TransXChange, SIRI, HAFAS)
- Curiosity and willingness to dive into new topics and keep learning
