Zoox is seeking a Program Manager for Fleet Readiness & Response to lead a critical 24/7 operations function supporting autonomous vehicle deployment across multiple markets. In this role, you will manage and develop a team of Readiness and Response Dispatchers providing round-the-clock coverage across San Francisco, Foster City, Las Vegas, Austin, Miami, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, with responsibility for hiring, shift structure, scheduling, on-call rotation, and performance management. You will own the complete Response program execution, driving four core pillars: vehicle recovery, rider recovery, incident response, and dispatch oversight. You'll stand up the program in each new market as Zoox expands, ensuring consistency and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include managing the third-party tow and rider recovery vendor network, holding partners accountable to service levels through scorecards, escalation protocols, and capacity planning. You'll partner with Logistics on contracts and Finance on cost optimization. You will define, instrument, and report the full Response metric set—time to dispatch, dispatch-to-cleared-scene time, dispatch cancellation rate, recovery SLA attainment, recovery damage events, and cost per recovery—using data to drive decisions rather than simply describe them. You'll standardize workflows, escalation matrices, and change management processes to maintain consistency across all markets. You'll run post-incident retrospectives to a rigorous standard (containment, solution, preventive action) and ensure assigned actions are completed. Cross-functional collaboration is essential: you'll work with Mission Control, GSOC, the Fusion Center, Safety, Product, and market leadership to eliminate friction between dispatch decisions and scene clearance. You'll communicate weekly Response updates to leadership and represent the program in business reviews with data-backed, executive-ready briefings. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of program or project management experience in live operations (field operations, logistics, transportation, emergency services, or fleet) - Bachelor's degree in business management, operations, or similar field discipline - Direct people leadership experience: hiring, coaching, and managing teams through 24/7 shift-based schedules - Demonstrated experience running real-time dispatch, command center, or incident response operations; ability to remain decisive under pressure and interface with external parties during live events - Proven track record building operational processes from scratch and driving adoption across multiple sites or markets - Experience managing third-party vendors to measurable performance standards (service levels, scorecards, escalation, capacity coverage) - Fluency with operational data: ability to define metrics, source them from dashboards, and defend conclusions; experience with Looker, Databricks, Jira, or equivalent tools - Excellent written communication; ability to compress complex operating situations into executive-ready 90-second briefings - Willingness to travel to markets (20–25%) and be reachable for major incidents outside standard hours BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other safety-critical operating environments - Formal incident management training (ICS/NIMS) or background in public safety, EMS, or emergency dispatch - Experience standing up operations in new geographies or supporting market launches - Experience with workforce planning or labor modeling for shift-based teams
