Sierra is the leading platform for customer-facing AI agents, serving major brands including The GAP, Rocket Mortgage, SoFi, Sutter Health, and SoftBank. The company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
As a Strategist in Agent Development, you will own the complete lifecycle of AI agent deployment for enterprise customers—from initial scoping through conversation design, tooling, evaluation, launch, and continuous production iteration. You will translate business goals into agents that measurably outperform and drive customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the Agent Development Life Cycle: Take agents from initial scope through conversation design, tooling, and evaluation to launch and continuous iteration in production. You'll have real ownership and autonomy over outcomes.
- Serve as trusted strategic advisor to enterprise leaders: Sit shoulder-to-shoulder with customer executives, understand what success means to their business, and shape the AI strategy that gets them there.
- Partner with customer working teams day-to-day: Run working sessions, troubleshoot agents as issues arise, and make calls that keep builds on track for launch.
- Directly impact product: Surface unmet needs from customer work and feed them back to research and platform teams to shape Sierra's product direction.
Recent projects include scoping and launching subscription-retention agents for telecommunications/media companies, building commerce agents that troubleshoot devices and personalize recommendations, redesigning conversation flows for regulated financial services interactions, partnering on net-new agent architectures, and defining evaluation metrics to drive measurable outcome improvements.
You will work at the intersection of product, agent building, and customer-facing delivery, staying equally close to the technology and the people you build for.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- Customer obsession with genuine energy for understanding customer business and needs, thriving in complex organizations, and building trusted relationships
- Clear, direct, and persuasive communication across technical and non-technical audiences
- Strategic problem-solving ability in ambiguity, with strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to break down complex problems, spot risks early, and adapt quickly
- Technical aptitude: comfortable engaging with technical concepts including API documentation, data models, system architecture, and engineering tradeoffs
- Track record of running multiple complex, high-visibility projects simultaneously and driving them to outcomes
- Genuine interest in Financial Services and improving end-customer experience; experience in fintech, financial institution implementations, working inside financial institutions, or familiarity with financial services security and compliance requirements (fair lending, PII handling, etc.) is a strong plus
Highly valued:
- Hands-on experience building or deploying AI/LLM agents in production with tools like eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG, and prompt engineering
- Founder, founding team member, or operator experience—ability to balance craft, ownership, and speed
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; MBA or comparable experience at the intersection of technology and business
