Salary: USD 85,000 - 161,500 / annual
Boston Scientific is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist III for Electronics to develop and execute sourcing strategies that reduce total costs, enhance supplier value, and secure competitive advantage in direct sourcing categories. This role applies analytical approaches to the electronics category, collaborating with divisional stakeholders and cross-functional partners in Supplier Quality and Supplier Engineering to optimize sustainable sourcing strategies and execute project deliverables while ensuring product quality and cost savings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Gathering market intelligence and trends for electronics category and sub-categories
- Identifying suitable suppliers and developing comprehensive supplier databases
- Guiding internal leads through systematic category approaches to material and supplier selection and management; identifying insourcing and outsourcing opportunities
- Managing strategic supplier relationships aligned with category strategy and strategic differentiators
- Analyzing data and developing cost modeling tools (should-cost, COGS, etc.) to manage the category
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate supplier-related issues and risks
- Promoting continuous value improvement with suppliers for quality, service, and cost
- Managing supplier performance and identifying Value Improvement Programs (VIP) to improve total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Establishing optimal balance between collaborative engagement and competitive pressure with supply base
- Supporting annual budget processes for assigned suppliers and resolving systematic issues
- Establishing early involvement to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost
The role is based at one of three locations: Massachusetts, Sacramento CA, or Arden Hills MN, with up to 20% global travel required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of direct sourcing experience and supplier relationship management
- Proficiency with MS Excel and other applications (Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.)
- Ability to travel globally up to 20%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or professional certification (CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
- Experience sourcing electronic components for manufacturing operations
- Experience in medical device or similar regulated industry
- Strong decision-making and negotiation skills; ability to influence internal and external teams
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; process and results-oriented
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
