Mercor is an AI data company that organizes human expertise to power frontier AI models. As a Strategic Project Lead (SPL) for Enterprise Human Data, you will drive the tactical execution of multi-million-dollar projects that help Fortune 500 companies capture and scale expert human data for AI training and deployment.
You will serve as the primary operational and customer-facing lead for enterprise engagements, managing end-to-end data pipelines from customer specifications through final delivery. This includes designing workflows, diagnosing bottlenecks, implementing process improvements, and ensuring flawless execution under demanding timelines. You'll orchestrate the work of 1,000+ distributed contributors, sourcing and performance-managing domain experts while maintaining high quality standards.
Key responsibilities include: designing and optimizing data pipelines for quality, throughput, and cost-efficiency; acting as the primary point of contact for AI, data, and technical leaders at enterprise clients; managing large-scale contributor coordination across Slack-based workspaces; running daily internal syncs to identify and resolve issues; and delivering transparent progress reporting to customers.
This is a hands-on operations role requiring strong analytical and communication skills, proven ability to manage complex projects, and comfort working directly with high-profile clients. You'll thrive in operationally intense environments and be excited by process optimization and large-scale execution. Background in consulting, finance, startups, or similar high-velocity settings is ideal.
SPLs generate $10M+ in annual project revenue and face high-pressure, time-sensitive customer requests (e.g., onboarding 1,000 contributors in 3 days, delivering 10+ hours of quality data per contributor within 48 hours). High performers advance to Senior SPL roles managing multiple projects and teams. The role requires in-person presence five days per week at Mercor's San Francisco office.
