Lightmatter is a venture-backed hardware infrastructure company that invented the world's first 3D-stacked photonics engine (Passage™) for AI and HPC data centers. The company recently raised $400M in Series D funding at a $4.4B valuation and is scaling rapidly across all departments.
You will serve as Senior Technical Program Manager for the Hardware Systems team, owning program execution across all electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering activities. This is a hands-on, high-impact role that combines strong program management fundamentals with working knowledge of hardware engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own integrated scheduling across all concurrent hardware projects and workstreams, surfacing priority conflicts and driving resource contention resolution with engineering leads
• Drive cross-functional alignment between Hardware Systems and other teams (SI, PI, SW, supply chain) through structured meetings, decision capture, and relentless follow-up
• Manage team-wide resource loading and capacity visibility, flagging overallocation risks and facilitating trade-off discussions
• Build and maintain integrated program schedules reflecting hardware development realities: bring-up milestones, NPI phases, EVT/DVT/PVT gates, and cross-team dependencies
• Own program scope outside formal charters: tester boards, demos, lab fixtures, calibration equipment, and internal engineering tools
• Coordinate material flow: track component orders, PCB fab runs, PCBA and mechanical assemblies, and engineering samples in partnership with supply chain
• Serve as primary hardware program interface with external contract manufacturers, PCB/sheet metal fabricators, and assembly houses
• Represent Hardware Systems in company-wide program reviews and cross-functional planning cadences; communicate schedule changes, material needs, and engineering commitments to organizational stakeholders
• Track Hardware Systems budgets for engineering activities, prototype builds, and tooling; coordinate with finance and operations
• Establish lightweight program management processes: status reporting cadences, risk registers, dependency tracking, and decision logs
• Adapt quickly to change, maintaining momentum and clarity when scope shifts or engineering realities force pivots
You will be equally comfortable in design reviews, supplier calls, resource planning discussions, and executive status updates. This role thrives in a fast-moving environment where requirements evolve and not every process is fully established.
