Okta is seeking a Staff UX Designer to lead user experience strategy and execution for the Okta Research & Development (ORD) business unit, which focuses on solving every identity use case at work for all types of people (employees, business partners, contractors, frontline workers) and resources (SaaS, servers, privileged resources, machines, etc.) for the largest and most secure businesses in the world. In this role, you will lead a holistic, human-centered approach to design and guide UX strategy alongside cross-functional partners, collaborating to take products from concept to launch and define long-term strategy for your product area. You will design and facilitate co-creation workshops with Product Management, Engineering, and Design to define opportunities within products that solve valuable customer problems. You'll craft user-centered artifacts and end-to-end journeys to align teams around broader user experience, ensuring consistency across interface experiences across different user scenarios. You will inspire teams to think bigger and act smaller, instilling an iterative process and fail-forward mentality to design simple and delightful user interfaces. You'll advocate, mentor, and educate on the benefits of design thinking to product teams and new designers, partnering with UX team members to uphold principles and standards. Mentoring junior designers and contributing toward team-level and design practice improvements is a key responsibility. You will work with Design Leadership to define and drive frameworks, contracts, and standards for others to build upon, ensuring quality of UX delivery. You'll find creative ways to continuously learn from customers and users, collaborating with user researchers to research and synthesize user needs. You'll help product designers create success metrics to illustrate how their designs impact customers and present work, concepts, and ideas to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, distilling complex technical problems into clear, conceptual models and simple, elegant solutions. You'll stay abreast of competitor products and industry trends, including the practical application of AI in the design process, and perform competitive and comparative analysis to understand existing patterns. **Requirements:** - 8+ years of relevant work experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer, with a portfolio showcasing shipped B2B or enterprise products - Degree in a related field or equivalent relevant work experience - Proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or similar design tools - At least basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript - Digital portfolio required showcasing solid skills across a variety of projects, including work that has been seen and used successfully in actual products - Experience leading cross-discipline teams and exemplifying leadership - Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI-powered design tools (for ideation, asset generation, or prototyping) in daily design activities - Experience working in diverse, globally distributed teams with remote collaboration tools - Portfolio showing work on complex and/or technical projects across all aspects of the design process (conceptual design, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design)
