Affirm is seeking an experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to lead high-visibility, complex technical programs across product and engineering teams. In this role, you will oversee multi-disciplinary initiatives that expand Affirm's consumer product suite and platform capabilities, working to scale program management practices alongside the company's accelerating business growth.
You will drive the full program lifecycle—from requirements planning through execution—coordinating across engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Design, Analytics, and leadership. Key responsibilities include identifying and managing risks, maintaining program schedules, communicating status to upper management, and ensuring clear alignment across distributed teams. You'll develop deep technical knowledge at the architecture level, propose technical alternatives, and ask clarifying questions that push teams toward effectiveness and on-time delivery.
Your work will involve tracking progress, resolving dependencies, and engaging program teams to achieve ambitious goals. You'll actively mentor and level up team members, building a strong remote-first culture while managing geographically distributed backend systems and complex technology applications.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, plus 8+ years of proven technical program management experience. You should have a track record of successfully driving complex large-scale technology initiatives, strong stakeholder management skills across engineering and product teams, and an organized, strategic approach to cross-disciplinary collaboration. Prior experience in FinTech, payments, or commerce is a plus. You'll be someone who obsesses over details while shipping on time, with genuine passion for transforming consumer finance.
