Salary: EUR 8,500 - 10,500 / monthly
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space, operating the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. The company delivers persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth, serving customers in defence, intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance, and emergency management.
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Commercial Platform team, you will own the technical architecture behind ICEYE's customer-facing data business—the platform through which customers discover, order, receive, and pay for SAR imagery and monitoring insights. You will architect the consolidation of several existing backend systems into one unified platform and drive this migration through to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building the platform at the heart of ICEYE's data business, which will drive revenue for years to come
- Owning the technical architecture and migration plan for consolidating multiple existing backend systems into a unified platform
- Making key architecture and data-model decisions and driving them hands-on across multiple engineering teams
- Delivering the platform's first production milestone within Q1 2027, then leading the migration of remaining live products without disrupting customers
- Setting technical standards for other engineers as the platform consolidation continues
- Evaluating where AI-assisted engineering practices genuinely help the team and helping others apply them
- Partnering with product and engineering leadership to keep the migration aligned as priorities evolve
You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and work in a hybrid model (3 days per week in the Espoo office). The role is permanent and subject to applicable security screening.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Backend production engineering experience in Go, or deep backend expertise in a similar language to ramp quickly
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and event-driven, message-based architectures
- Production experience with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred)
- Practical experience with observability tooling such as LGTM stack, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry
- Track record of technically leading an architecture renewal, platform consolidation, or large-scale migration end-to-end (not just contributing to one)
- Proven ability to bring multiple engineering teams and stakeholders to a shared technical direction
- Geospatial or space industry experience is a strong plus but not required; most engineers learn the domain at ICEYE
