Sportradar's Live Data unit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical strategy and architecture across multiple engineering teams in Wrocław. The Live Data unit is responsible for developing, delivering, and globally distributing real-time sports data across 30+ sports disciplines, including e-sports, serving partnerships with rights holders, media organizations, and betting companies worldwide. The development team focuses on two primary systems: the In-Game Pipeline (collecting source data from scouts and AI-driven computer vision) and Prediction Markets (ultra-low-latency feeds optimized for client needs). In this role, you will define and drive technical architecture and engineering strategy across multiple teams and product areas. You will lead the design of scalable, high-performance distributed systems processing millions of real-time events daily. You'll own complex cross-functional initiatives with significant business impact from conception through production, set engineering standards and architecture principles, and establish the long-term technical roadmap for your area. You will mentor Senior Engineers and serve as the technical anchor for teams navigating ambiguous, high-stakes problems. You'll influence engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders, translating technical strategy into business outcomes. The role requires bringing deep expertise in AWS, cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures to organization-level decisions, and leading platform modernization, technical transformation, and large-scale migration initiatives. This is a fully office-based role. Sportradar values in-person collaboration, knowledge sharing, fast decision-making, and team connection as key drivers of innovation and success. The company offers flexible working hours, a collaborative international environment with engineering offices across Europe, Asia, and the US, professional development planning, and an inclusive community. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of professional software development experience with extensive Java expertise and strong track record in large-scale distributed systems - Ability to lead architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams or products and drive initiatives with real business impact - Deep expertise in AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern platform engineering—not just tool familiarity, but judgment about when and how to use them - Experience mentoring Senior Engineers and shaping engineering culture without direct management authority - Clear communication at every level, from technical deep dives with engineers to strategic conversations with leadership - Ability to define engineering standards and long-term roadmaps that teams actually use - Experience in real-time, high-availability systems or mission-critical environments at global scale is a strong advantage - Background in sports technology, betting, fintech, or other highly transactional environments is a plus, but ability to learn a domain quickly matters more
