As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on technical leader who writes production code daily while driving architectural decisions and technical excellence across the engineering organization. You will be a key force in scaling the platform, solving complex problems, and ensuring the engineering team follows best practices. You are expected to be an expert in your craft—capable of diving deep into both frontend and backend challenges, mentoring other engineers, and helping set the technical direction of the product. While you will not have direct reports, your influence will be critical in guiding the team and ensuring a scalable, high-performance product is built.
Key responsibilities include: owning end-to-end development of key product features from database models to UI components; serving as a technical leader and driving best practices across the engineering team; acting as a force multiplier by mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and improving development workflows; collaborating with product and design teams to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions; architecting and optimizing systems for performance, scalability, and maintainability; championing best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD; proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks in technical architecture and team processes; and leading large releases to production on a continuous deployment cadence.
The tech stack includes TypeScript across all applications, NestJS API with TypeORM, Postgres, Redis, React, a custom UI library built on shadcn, Tailwind, and GCP.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience with deep expertise in both frontend and backend technologies
- Mastery of React, TypeScript, and Node.js with a proven track record of shipping production-grade applications
- Strong background in scalable system design, API development, and database architecture
- Experience working in fast-paced startup environments where you have built and shipped products from scratch
- Ability to set technical direction and mentor engineers, helping them grow in their craft
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges with pragmatic solutions
- Extreme bias toward action and execution—moving fast, iterating quickly, and getting things done
- Must be based in the United States
