Salary: USD 193,461 - 193,661 / annual
Ripple is building infrastructure for the Internet of Value, enabling financial institutions, businesses, governments, and developers to move value globally with speed and efficiency. This Staff Software Engineer role involves designing and developing large-scale distributed systems for enterprise payment applications that settle cross-border transactions within seconds.
You will hold senior software development responsibilities, working both independently and collaboratively to architect and build next-generation payment applications. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop large-scale distributed systems and enterprise payment applications
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through testing and deployment
- Build scalable, performant enterprise software using Java and its ecosystem
- Perform test-driven development with high code coverage
- Deploy and manage continuous integration pipelines
- Collaborate with product, legal, and business development teams to gather requirements and understand technical implications of design decisions
- Work with cross-functional teams to create end-to-end software solutions that drive down costs, increase processing speeds, and deliver visibility into payment operations
The role is based in New York with hybrid flexibility (up to 50% remote within the same geographic location). Standard hours are 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, OR Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive post-baccalaureate software development experience (with Bachelor's), OR 3+ years with Master's degree
- 3+ years working as a developer on large-scale distributed systems
- 3+ years in each of the following (may be concurrent):
- Java and SpringBoot applications
- HTTP technologies
- Building and testing infrastructure
- Deployment automation
- Cloud tools (AWS or GCP) and cloud-based architectures
- Data warehouse architecture and integration
- SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop)
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo)
- At least one API/UI test tool or framework (Postman, SoapUI, REST-assured, or Selenium)
