Salary: USD 240,000 - 300,000 / annual
Traba is building an AI operating system for the industrial supply chain, serving warehouses, manufacturers, logistics providers, and workers. The company started as a staffing platform supplying temporary workforces to industrial businesses and has expanded into a suite of AI agents that help logistics providers, manufacturers, 3PLs, and other industrial businesses automate manual workflows, derive insights from data streams, and transform decision intelligence. The mission is to build a world where the global supply chain operates at peak efficiency.
In this Staff Software Engineer role focused on Applied AI, you will build Traba's product on top of AI agents and set the standard for how the team applies them. You'll integrate frontier models and existing agents across the staffing marketplace to automate the pipeline that sources, vets, matches, and places workers on millions of shifts. You'll own the core backend services and platform infrastructure supporting this work. This is fundamentally a platform-engineering role where priorities shift based on company needs—whether that's agent infrastructure one quarter, matching algorithms, data systems, or scaling challenges the next.
You'll join the founding team, partner with the CTO on key architectural decisions, iterate on the roadmap, and build the foundational platform that scales over the next several years. Your responsibilities include setting the standard for how the team applies agents across the stack and uses AI-assisted tooling; architecting and leading core systems from real-time matching to autonomous vetting pipelines powered by ML and agents; owning platform architecture with a view to company needs one to two years out; and driving backend performance, reliability, and scale.
The ideal candidate is an applier who sets the bar—someone who wires frontier models and existing agents into real product across the stack and knows which corners are safe to cut at an early stage. You're a voracious learner who moves easily from API design to deployment infrastructure. You have deep full-stack experience designing performant, scalable applications with real expertise in APIs, data modeling, query optimization, and distributed systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of professional experience with TypeScript/Node.js or Python
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and messaging systems (Kafka or RabbitMQ)
- Track record of shipping and leading projects at scale with high velocity
- Experience building or integrating AI/LLM systems in production is a plus; judgment to lead the team into AI is what matters most
- Comfort owning ambiguity and direction in an early-stage environment
