Traba is building an AI operating system for the industrial supply chain, helping warehouses, manufacturers, logistics providers, and workers automate operations. The company started as a staffing platform and has evolved into a suite of AI agents that automate manual workflows, derive insights from data streams, and transform decision intelligence for industrial businesses. Backed by Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, and General Catalyst.
You will architect Traba's agent platform end-to-end, owning orchestration runtime, eval and observability stack, integration layers to customer systems (WMS/TMS/ERP), and the foundational patterns every agent is built on. Key responsibilities include: making core architectural decisions on model strategy, harness design, retrieval and memory architecture, tool/MCP surface, and quality measurement; spending time in the field with customers and operators to translate real-world needs into durable product and deployment patterns; building evaluation as a real engineering discipline with datasets, graders, regression suites, and experimentation tooling; hiring and mentoring engineers on the agents team; and partnering with the CTO, product, and ops leadership on the multi-year platform roadmap.
This is a founding member role for a 0-to-1 product, requiring someone who can set direction by shipping canonical examples, not just documentation. You'll work closely with the CTO on architectural decisions and raise the bar through hands-on technical leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of software engineering, with 2+ years of hands-on production work on LLM- or agent-based systems
- Deep expertise in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, with a track record designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models on PostgreSQL and modern messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ownership of a non-trivial production agent system: orchestration, tool use, retrieval, evals, observability, and cost/latency tuning
- Background in at least one of: vertical AI / AI-agent company, forward-deployed engineering role, or AI-native data company (bonus for supply chain, logistics, or industrial exposure)
- History of leading 0-to-1 builds in early-stage environments—comfortable with ambiguity and high-agency by default
- Strong written and verbal communication skills—able to run customer workshops, write design docs, and recruit teammates
