Aave Labs is seeking a Staff Smart Contract Engineer to innovate and build upon the Aave Protocol and GHO stablecoin. The Aave Protocol is the world's largest and most trusted onchain lending market, connecting decentralized finance with individuals, traditional finance, and fintech.
In this role, you will design, implement, and deploy secure smart contracts on Ethereum and other EVM-based networks. You will work closely with the Aave team to develop and maintain the protocol, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, and testing secure Solidity-based smart contracts and decentralized applications
- Participating in the development of protocol-level infrastructure and tools
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and functionality
- Responding to security vulnerabilities, simulating scenarios, and evaluating response strategies
- Debugging and troubleshooting issues during the development process
- Reviewing code written by other engineers to ensure it meets required standards and specifications with a focus on security
- Staying up to date with developments in the Ethereum ecosystem and incorporating new technologies as appropriate
- Providing technical guidance, support, and mentoring to other engineers as needed

Requirements:
- Experience working with DeFi protocols and deep understanding of smart contracts and the EVM
- Demonstrated ability to build, innovate, and ship features with the highest standards of solidity and security
- Research-oriented mindset; keep up with the latest hacks, tooling, and security practices
- Passion for DeFi and web3 technology
- Experience shipping production DeFi vaults end to end, including share and NAV accounting, strategy allocation, deposit and redemption flows
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentor other engineers
