Salary: GBP 225,000 - 255,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed directly with strategic enterprise customers and drive transformational AI adoption. As a founding member of the Applied AI team's forward-deployed motion, you will work at the frontier of enterprise AI deployments, collaborating closely with customer teams to ship advanced AI applications that solve real-world business problems.
You will combine engineering expertise, frontier AI knowledge, and customer-facing skills to understand customer workflows and develop innovative solutions addressing complex business challenges while maintaining high standards for safety and reliability. Working closely with Post-Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, you'll operate autonomously, thrive under ambiguity, and represent Anthropic at the highest level in customer environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building production applications with Claude models within customer systems, ensuring products meet customer requirements
- Delivering technical artifacts such as MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills for production workflows
- Providing white-glove deployment support for Anthropic products in enterprise environments
- Identifying and codifying repeatable deployment patterns, contributing insights back to Product and Engineering teams
- Maintaining strong knowledge of latest LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development stacks
- Building long-term customer relationships and proactively identifying new AI deployment opportunities throughout engagement lifecycles
- Traveling frequently (25-50%) to customer sites for in-person collaboration
- Championing Anthropic's mission in the field
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, or as a Software Engineer with consulting or product experience (former technical founders encouraged to apply)
- Production experience with LLMs including advanced prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale
- Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python and ideally one or more additional languages (TypeScript, Java, etc.); experience shipping production applications
- High agency with ability to navigate ambiguity in complex organizations
- High cooperation mindset for cross-organizational collaboration, balancing competing priorities with integrity
- Passion for advancing safe, beneficial AI systems through creative technical applications
- Strong communication skills for customer discovery and conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders with low ego and collaborative approach
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role
- Plus: background in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, or other enterprise verticals; experience with enterprise IT systems and/or AI deployment patterns
