Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building advanced autonomous systems for U.S. and allied military capabilities. The Maneuver Dominance team is developing Thunder, an autonomous attack rotorcraft designed to operate alongside crewed combat aviation. This Staff Robotics Software Engineer role focuses on solving the critical challenge of autonomous vehicle perception and planning in contested spectrum environments where antenna real estate is severely constrained.
As a Staff Robotics Engineer, you will lead the delivery of vehicle perception and planning capabilities integrated into Anduril's autonomous platforms. You will act as a technical lead and extremely senior individual contributor, demonstrating end-to-end outcome ownership across the entire product lifecycle. Your responsibilities include:
- Owning customer success through design and delivery of multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmaps spanning multiple teams
- Leveraging internal product and program-specific engineering teams to rapidly deliver capability beyond current platform scope
- Partnering with external teams on interfacing requirements between diverse systems and technologies
- Leading teams that architect, design, and implement trusted safe navigation, collision avoidance, and situational awareness systems
- Driving development and implementation of sensor suites, perception algorithms, planning algorithms, and test fixtures
- Performing high-impact individual contributor work in architecture and implementation across the perception and planning stack
- Utilizing advanced techniques in computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning to enhance vehicle capabilities
- Conducting thorough testing and validation of perception and planning algorithms through simulation and real-world data analysis
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, and systems engineers
- Traveling to co-locate with end-users and other teams up to 20% of the time
You will own systems analysis, sensor selection and integration, perception architecture and implementation, motion planning, health management, behavior analysis, simulation and test infrastructure, and interfaces with lower- and higher-level systems.
