GitLab is seeking a Staff Program Manager to lead the Chief Customer Officer's (CCO) cross-functional strategic initiatives. This is a founding seat in a new Programs function, reporting directly to the CCO.
You will own execution and business outcomes across CCO-level programs including go-to-market transformation, renewal and retention motions, product feedback loops, and executive sponsorship for top accounts. Your core responsibilities include:
- Translating CCO direction into clearly scoped workstreams with defined owners, dependencies, and timelines
- Coordinating senior stakeholders across Sales, Customer Experience, Product, Marketing, Renewals, Professional Services, Data, and Enablement without direct authority
- Surfacing stalled work, unowned risks, and slipping timelines to provide the CCO with real-time portfolio visibility
- Recommending scope changes, re-sequencing, or program termination when value delivery is at risk
- Driving follow-through from executive meetings by tracking decisions and action items to completion
- Tracking program health using data, connecting execution to retention, expansion, adoption, and ARR outcomes
- Building shared standards for tracking, reporting, and handoffs across functional leaders
- Communicating executive-ready narratives alongside execution-level detail
In your first year, every CCO-level program will have a clear owner other than the CCO, leadership will trust your data-grounded view of program health, and the portfolio will deliver measurable business outcomes. The reporting line may evolve as the team scales.
GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, trusted by more than 50 million registered users and over 50% of the Fortune 100. The company operates in a globally distributed, largely asynchronous environment with a high-performance culture driven by continuous knowledge exchange and AI-enabled productivity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional strategic programs at the executive level, turning ambiguous direction into delivered outcomes without a fully scoped brief
- Background in Customer Experience, go-to-market, or revenue-facing functions (Customer Success, Renewals, Sales, Revenue Operations) with fluency in retention, expansion, and adoption motions and their contribution to ARR
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders, including executives, and hold them accountable to commitments without formal authority
- Judgment to make high-stakes tactical recommendations under ambiguity, including when data supports changing direction or ending a program
- Data fluency to assess program health, diagnose where work is breaking down, and recommend data-informed next steps
- Strong written and verbal communication, moving fluidly between executive-ready narratives and execution-level detail
- Comfort operating without established infrastructure and helping build the function's operating model
- Reliable follow-through and ability to navigate conflict and competing priorities across broad stakeholder groups
