Deepgram is the leading platform for Voice AI, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and production-grade voice agents at scale. The company serves 200,000+ developers and 1,300+ organizations including Twilio, Cloudflare, and others. Backed by Series C funding, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio and transcribed more than 1 trillion words. You will own the strategy and execution of Deepgram's new line of AI applications—products that put voice AI directly into the hands of knowledge workers and consumers. This is a full product ownership role where you define which products the line consists of, who they serve, and how they generate revenue. You report to the VP of Self-Serve. Key responsibilities include: - Define and defend the strategy for the AI applications line: product portfolio, target users, competitive positioning, and business model - Own the roadmap and prioritization decisions, from current applications to future builds - Build the business metrics around acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization; track weekly progress toward profitability - Represent the product to partners and customers; own commitments and delivery timelines - Establish the team's operating rhythm: hypothesis → shipped change → measurement → next bet, using real user adoption as the success bar - Partner daily with research, engineering, design, and marketing; bring user insights into every decision - Prototype extensively using mockups, wireframes, and working prototypes; use the product daily yourself The role is set apart by its moment: the team, models, and first applications exist; your job is to set the strategy, defend it with evidence, and maintain direction while the company's attention remains high. Deepgram operates at the pace of AI—change is rapid, and your day-to-day work will evolve quickly. REQUIREMENTS (Must-Have): - Excellent product management judgment: you own product and roadmap, set direction under uncertainty, ship outcomes, and lead cross-functional work without formal authority. You can demonstrate results. - A shipped product that people paid for (required): you have built and shipped a consumer or prosumer application that people chose and paid for; you owned its funnel, business metrics, and features. - Zero-to-one product definition experience: you have taken a product from idea to first version with real user adoption—strategy, positioning, first release—and can show what happened next. - Deep AI fluency proven by shipped work (required): you have personally built and shipped AI into end-user applications; you have strong, specific opinions about where models help, where they fail, and how to verify outputs. - Technical depth: you reason with engineering about models, latency, privacy, and platform tradeoffs; you read code; you prototype. - Design sense: you build simple, effective interfaces and communicate ideas through mockups and prototypes grounded in user research and testing. - Metric judgment: you reflexively distrust a number before building on it; you ask whether a metric is real or an artifact of measurement. - Clear executive communication: you lead with the decision, keep your method in reserve, and stay steady under pushback without caving or digging in. NICE-TO-HAVE: - Experience building native desktop or mobile applications (Windows, macOS, iOS) - Experience shipping a product through distribution partners on someone else's platform and calendar - Experience with voice, audio, or real-time systems - Time in a company with both self-serve and enterprise motions Culture note: Deepgram expects an AI-first mindset. All team members actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools and integrate them into daily work. The company moves at the pace of AI with rapid change; this role requires comfort with experimentation, adaptation, and continuous learning.
