In this Staff Mechanical Engineer role, you will lead the design and development of key powertrain systems covering both electric and internal combustion technologies. You will break down complex technical challenges into manageable components and mentor junior engineers in delivering solutions. A core responsibility is establishing technical standards and best practices for the team in areas such as FEA, design guidelines, and hand calculations.
You will support in-service products by leading failure investigations and cost-down exercises, ensuring consistent quality output. Close collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams is essential, particularly during production ramps and supplier transitions. The role demands high-quality independent work and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead design and development of powertrain systems (electric and internal combustion)
- Mentor junior engineers and decompose complex problems

- Support in-service products through failure analysis and cost optimization

- Deliver independent, high-quality technical work

Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience with emphasis on mechanical design
- Proven ownership of multiple powertrain systems from concept through full production lifecycle in automotive environments
- Demonstrated experience with Electric Drive Units (EDUs) and Internal Combustion (IC) engines
- Deep understanding of powertrain manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems (CATIA preferred), FEA (stress analysis, thermal simulations), and design of rotating components
- Strong communication skills and proven track record delivering complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams under deadline pressure
