Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Process Engineer to lead manufacturing process development for advanced defense hardware systems. The role encompasses the full manufacturing value chain, including design for manufacturability, tool design and selection, process creation and optimization, vendor sourcing, quality planning, and work documentation.
You will own manufacturing across all production steps for Anduril's intelligence systems, including static equipment, moving ground equipment, and complex vehicles. Key responsibilities include providing design for manufacturability feedback to engineering teams, developing novel tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly, creating detailed process flows that break down complex assemblies into manageable sub-assemblies and production lines, and evaluating and dispositioning hardware non-conformances.
You will write comprehensive manufacturing documentation including work instructions, quality plans, and inspection requirements. The role requires iterating on assembly processes based on lessons learned and working with contract manufacturers across multiple disciplines (PCBA fabrication, metallic manufacturing, assembly) to develop repeatable processes for both quick-turn development and at-scale production. You will work hands-on with technicians and engineers building prototype hardware, contribute to end-customer hardware mechanical and electrical design including interconnects and board fabrication, and travel to suppliers for sourcing, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing quality procedures.
This is a fast-paced, resource-limited environment requiring someone who thrives on holistic ownership of technical challenges with creative, physical solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- 12+ years of experience in manufacturing process development, preferably in high-reliability industry
- Demonstrated expertise in creating clear, detailed work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
- Experience optimizing manual assembly operations and establishing standardized work
- Proven ability to analyze and improve manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing principles
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to implement effective solutions quickly
- Genuine interest in manufacturing and thirst for learning
- Proficiency with CAD software for creating assembly documentation and tooling design
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
- Currently possesses an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments
- Harness and PCBA fabrication experience including prior work with or setup/modification/monitoring SMT processes
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Software scripting experience in any language
