Obsidian Security, a leading SaaS security platform protecting 200+ global enterprises including Fortune 1000 companies, is seeking a Staff IT Systems Engineer to serve as the senior technical owner of identity, endpoint, and IT platform infrastructure. You will report directly to the VP of Business Systems, Data & IT and own the complete identity foundation, including Okta as the primary identity provider (Universal Directory, SSO, MFA, conditional access, Device Access, and Identity Governance). You will architect and manage lifecycle orchestration that converts HR events into access provisioning, including joiner, mover, and leaver flows with same-hour offboarding capabilities.
A core responsibility is operating IT as code—managing platform configuration as version-controlled code across Okta policies, groups, and app assignments; Jamf profiles and smart groups; GitHub organization structure; and Google Cloud infrastructure using OpenTofu and Terraform. You will bring imperative surfaces under the same discipline, managing Google Workspace through scripts in git and implementing keyless authentication via Workload Identity Federation with drift reporting.
You will set the standard for AI-augmented operations by authoring configuration with AI assistance, using read-only tooling for live observability and drift triage, and building AI-assisted IT support workflows that enable self-service access requests and provisioning without manual ticket queues. You own endpoint management across platforms with device trust wired into access policies, automated patching, and application allowlisting, while advancing zero-trust network access and secrets-management patterns.
Beyond hands-on technical work, you will raise the bar across the IT function by setting technical standards, documenting them for scalability, mentoring teammates, and becoming the go-to expert on identity and automation. You will partner with the VP to shape IT priorities and represent IT requirements in cross-functional security and business discussions. This is a high-leverage role at a pivotal moment as Obsidian stands up its identity platform with a lifecycle orchestration layer and moves the entire stack to an infrastructure-as-code operating model.
