Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Staff Global Sourcing Manager for Metals to serve as the domain expert for metals commodities. This is a high-impact role responsible for securing critical components, materials, and services that power Anduril's defense systems, which are powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system for military command and control.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing commodity strategies for raw metals (stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.) with focus on cost reduction, technology development, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience. You will have end-to-end responsibility for delivering quality materials at the right cost, aggregating raw metals usage across all business units to develop company-wide sourcing strategies, and leading RFI/RFQ/RFP processes.
You will own business relationships with external suppliers, managing continuity of supply, risk management, cost negotiations, and new product introduction to manufacturing operations. The role involves partnering with engineering teams to influence technical design specifications, performing detailed total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) analysis on quote submissions, and negotiating key supplier agreements on pricing, quality, flexibility, delivery, and service terms.
Additional responsibilities include conducting regular commodity reviews to executive staff, managing supplier performance metrics (delivery, quality, cost, innovation), and serving as the primary escalation point for metals commodities. You will influence supplier manufacturing processes and capital expenditure decisions while collaborating cross-functionally to resolve problems and advance new supplier or product offerings.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field; 10+ years of experience in supply chain commodity management of raw metals and/or sourcing engineering; ability to travel up to 50%; ability to relocate to Costa Mesa, CA for onsite work.
Preferred qualifications include a degree in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering, prior experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, or high-tech industries, expertise in TCO analysis, strategic thinking on commodity roadmaps, proven cross-functional leadership, and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI clearance.
