Plenful is a healthcare AI automation platform backed by $50M Series B funding from Notable Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, TQ Ventures, and others. The company serves 100+ health systems, pharmacies, and healthcare organizations, helping them eliminate manual work, reduce administrative burden, and improve compliance.
You will lead the architecture and evolution of Plenful's frontend UX platform, including shared components, design system foundations, and developer tooling. This is a hands-on staff role where you'll set technical direction, solve complex problems, and make other engineers more effective.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and evolution of the frontend UX platform, including shared components, design system foundations, and developer tooling
- Build product experiences and reusable infrastructure using TypeScript and React
- Work across the stack with Python and FastAPI to design and integrate APIs that support excellent user experiences
- Establish practical standards for accessibility, performance, testing, and frontend maintainability
- Partner with design, product, and engineering teams to turn complex workflows into intuitive interfaces
- Mentor engineers, review technical designs, and drive improvements across teams
The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model requiring two days per week in the office. Candidates may also be based in the Seattle area.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial experience building frontend applications at scale
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and React
- Track record of leading frontend architecture or platform work across multiple teams
- Sound judgment about when to create shared abstractions and how to keep them useful as a product grows
- Experience collaborating closely with designers and product partners on user-facing work
- Clear communication skills and the ability to lead through both code and technical guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Python and FastAPI
- Experience working at a health-tech startup
- Familiarity with FHIR and HL7
