Salary: USD 191,000 - 292,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The company develops autonomous aircraft and subsea vehicles powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates sensor data into real-time command and control systems.
The Flight Software team develops flight computer vehicle software for all airborne and subsea vehicles. As a Staff Flight Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing microcontroller embedded software that powers Anduril's aircraft. You will work alongside a diverse team of engineers in a collaborative culture with significant ownership opportunities. As an early member of the team, your technical decisions will have substantial impact on the company's trajectory and military customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop microcontroller software using real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Develop device drivers, protocols, and APIs for aircraft sensors
- Integrate new features and sensors into flight controller software
- Create aircraft control systems
- Create software-in-the-loop (SITL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test fixtures
- Analyze flight test results and support operational aircraft deployments
- Support device manufacturing efforts
Anduril's current products include Fury (selected for the Air Force's Collaborative Combat Aircraft program with a manufacturing contract), Barracuda (surface-launched system with manufacturing contract), Roadrunner, Omen, and Thunder.
Core Requirements:
- 12+ years of industry experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Direct experience with DO-178 standards or similar safety-critical certifications
- Direct experience in aircraft embedded software or other safety-critical systems
- Strong C programming skills
- Background in low-level embedded software architecture, design, and development
- Low-level device driver development experience with microcontrollers and application processors
- Proficiency with embedded systems tools, compilers, debuggers, and IDEs
- Familiarity with communications buses and protocols: CAN, CANFD, ARINC-825, ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, Ethernet
- Strong debugging skills using instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers
- Familiarity with revision control systems
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
