True Anomaly builds autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors to enable U.S. and Allied space superiority. As a Staff Flight Software Engineer, you will work across the full spacecraft program lifecycle—design, analysis, manufacturing, test, and flight operations—in a culture emphasizing innovation and speed.
You will take a senior technical leadership role in flight software development for space missions. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead the software development cycle (design, development, integration, test) for flight computers, on-board processing units, and related systems
• Integrate complex GNC (Guidance, Navigation, Control) algorithms with flight software
• Define and maintain the Command Telemetry Database (CDTB) for ground and on-orbit test and mission operations
• Collaborate with the ground Command & Control (C2) software team
• Drive command scripting and sequencing efforts for spacecraft operations
• Design and implement satellite subsystem model simulators for HITL/SITL (Hardware-in-the-Loop / Software-in-the-Loop) environments
• Develop reusable device drivers, interfaces, and communications protocol libraries for flight hardware
This is a hands-on technical role with company-wide scope and influence over flight software architecture and strategy. You will mentor junior engineers and guide technical decisions across multiple subsystems.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 6+ years of experience with low-level firmware architecture, design, and development
• Demonstrated experience with low-level device driver development and safety-critical systems
• Experience with embedded RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems) such as RTLinux or Azure RTOS
• Familiarity with common communication protocols: Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS422, RS485, etc.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent resident status, or eligibility to obtain required ITAR authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (required by export regulations)
