Science Exchange is seeking a Staff Engineer to help architect and scale a platform that accelerates scientific research. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you will operate at a senior level while raising the bar for the entire engineering team, particularly around AI-assisted development practices. You will lead the full development lifecycle from technical design through deployment, ensuring alignment with long-term architectural goals. The platform is built on Salesforce and AWS, and you will play a key role in shaping how both are used going forward. You will evaluate AI tools, establish best practices, and run internal training sessions to help the team adopt AI-assisted workflows. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with a track record of leading complex engineering initiatives and mentoring others. You have hands-on experience using AI tools in your own workflow—whether AI-assisted coding, code review, testing, or documentation—and are excited to teach those practices to others. You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical partners and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment in the life sciences industry. Qualifications & Requirements: - 8+ years of professional experience building and scaling web applications, with demonstrated experience operating at a Staff or senior technical leadership level - B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience - Strong, hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows, and demonstrated ability to train or mentor other engineers on their use - Deep expertise with React, TypeScript, and Node.js - Strong experience with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway; experience with infrastructure as code tools such as AWS CDK, SST, or Pulumi is a plus - Experience with Salesforce development, including Apex, SOQL, and the LWC framework, is a plus - Demonstrated ability to lead technical design discussions and drive architectural decisions across a team - Proven track record mentoring engineers and improving team-level engineering practices and processes - Strong understanding of object-oriented design, agile development, and remote collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple time zones - Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
