Jerry is building an AI-powered platform to manage all your physical assets—starting with car insurance and expanding into home, motorcycle, RV, and beyond. The company has reached 5M+ customers, raised $240M+, scaled revenue 70X, and achieved profitability in early 2024. They are now scaling toward 50M customers and a $10B valuation.
The Data Science & Analytics team is a core strategic function composed of former McKinsey, BCG, and Bain consultants who drive insights and inform decision-making across product, growth, tech, and operations. Each team member is embedded within a business unit, owning the analytical function end-to-end rather than working in isolation.
As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be embedded in one of Jerry's core business areas—Growth Marketing, Product Development, AI & Automation, or Strategic Partnerships—and own the analytical function for that business unit end-to-end. Your responsibilities include:
- Define the right problems: Understand what business question an analysis answers and what decision it will inform. Push back if the question is flawed or misaligned.
- Data and insights: Define metrics, build reports, run analyses, design experiments, and surface data insights that move your team's key metrics.
- Drive outcomes: Bring recommendations to counterparts in product, growth, finance, or operations. Explain what's happening, why, and what the next steps should be.
You will be a first-principles thinker who breaks ambiguous problems into clear hypotheses before touching data. You are analytically strong (comfortable with SQL or Python) but instinctively ask "what are we trying to solve?" before jumping to "what should I build?" You are a direct communicator who can walk skeptical stakeholders through complex findings and secure buy-in quickly. You write clearly, speak precisely, and don't bury the lede. You act like your name is on the door—if something is broken, you feel responsible for fixing it, even outside your swim lane.
The team uses SQL (Clickhouse), Metabase, Python, Jupyter Hub, and GitHub. The culture emphasizes no slides, no corporate fluff, and hands-on execution. Every person owns a critical domain with no bloat, unnecessary meetings, or approval delays.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of experience at a consulting firm, investment bank, or high-growth technology company
- Strong analytical skills; ability to pull, structure, and interpret data independently
- Track record of owning ambiguous problems and delivering impact
- Clear, persuasive communicator who can influence decisions at the leadership level
