Salary: USD 65,000 - 72,000 / annual

Sphero is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its finance and accounting operations. The role is fully remote and reports directly to the Accounting Controller. Key Responsibilities: - General Ledger and Systems Support: Manage Quote to Cash and Procure to Pay activities, including journal entry preparation and posting, bank transaction entry, balance sheet reconciliations, and general accounting duties. - Employee Expense Management: Process and manage employee expenses. - Month-End Close: Participate in formalized close procedures including prepaid expenses, accruals, deferred revenue, allocations, and reconciliations. - Fixed Asset Management: Support maintenance of fixed asset sub-ledger and monthly depreciation calculations. - Transaction Oversight: Ensure all business transactions are reasonable, appropriate, and necessary. - Technical Accounting and Compliance: Assist with federal, state, and local tax filing (including 1099 reporting and NEXUS review), support annual external financial audits, prepare audit schedules, and gather supporting documentation. Support the accounting team in developing and maintaining policies and internal controls. Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - 1-3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role - Recent hands-on experience with an ERP system for handling accounting transactions - Demonstrated participation in month-end close processes - Minimum 1 consecutive year of remote work experience within the past 3 years - Experience supporting AP/AR functions and tasks - Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles - Proficiency in Excel for maintaining schedules and reconciliations - Ability to organize and navigate electronic file systems efficiently - Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment - Clear, proactive, and respectful communication skills (verbal and written) in remote-first settings (Slack, Zoom, email) - Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States - Must be able to travel to Texas warehouse for first two days of onboarding (company-paid); occasional travel required for business needs, conferences, and professional development
