As a Senior/Staff Civil Engineer, you will serve as the owner's engineer for civil and site development scope on greenfield mining and metallurgical processing facilities. You will define requirements for engineering contractors, ensure their designs are integrated and constructible, and deliver projects on schedule and budget. You will also serve as engineer of record for civil packages designed in-house, sealing drawings and calculations once licensed and supporting them through construction. Key responsibilities include: - Represent Mariana as owner's engineer for civil and site development from site selection through detailed design and construction - Develop site concepts in Civil 3D, including layouts, grading, drainage, access roads, and utility corridors - Define civil design requirements for contractors, including scope, design basis, specifications, and CAD standards - Manage contractor civil design activities from concept through issued-for-construction, tracking progress and deliverables - Lead design reviews and drive resolution of comments, clashes, and constructability issues - Review contractor deliverables for quality and code compliance - Manage geotechnical, survey, and environmental consultants - Coordinate civil interfaces across process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and geotechnical engineering - Support procurement and construction activities, including field inspections and RFI resolution - Serve as engineer of record for in-house civil packages once licensed - Perform and check civil design calculations (earthwork, hydrology, pavement, utilities) - Develop Mariana's civil design standards and work processes for reuse across projects - Engage in development of internal software tools The company culture emphasizes safety, extreme ownership, engineering optimization followed by automation, and collaborative knowledge-sharing. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering - 10+ years of civil and site development engineering experience on industrial, mining, or infrastructure projects - Experience managing or reviewing engineering contractor/consultant work on owner's team, or leading civil scope on EPC projects interfacing with owner teams - Engineer in Training (EIT) certification - Experience producing civil design packages for issue under engineer of record - Experience delivering greenfield capital projects from feasibility through detailed design and construction - Strong technical knowledge of site grading, drainage design, stormwater management, earthwork optimization, and roadway design - Working knowledge of utility design, geotechnical reports, and permitting requirements for industrial sites - Strong communication skills and ability to hold contractors accountable for quality, schedule, and budget - Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, manage competing priorities, and support delivery under schedule constraints PREFERRED: - Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil engineering, or ability to obtain within 12 months - Experience with mining, mineral processing, chemical, or heavy industrial facilities - Experience developing software tools or automating design workflows
