Archer Technologies, an aerospace company based in San Jose, is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for sustainable air mobility. We seek an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to be embedded on-site at one of our key supplier partners in Europe.
In this role, you will serve as the primary quality presence at the supplier facility, conducting comprehensive quality assurance and quality control activities across composite and structural component manufacturing. You will be the on-site quality point of contact between the supplier and Archer's Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Program Management teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform supplier quality oversight activities including source inspection, process audits, and First Article Inspection (FAI) for composite and structural components
- Review and disposition nonconforming material, drive containment actions, and verify corrective action effectiveness
- Apply quality assurance principles and technical integrity oversight to ensure customer and Archer requirements are met
- Support development of quality strategies, plans, and measurement frameworks across the project lifecycle
- Lead and support quality investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities
- Conduct investigations and reporting on quality-related issues as required
You bring a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related engineering field, plus 5+ years of proven experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Quality Engineering within complex manufacturing environments. Primary experience in composites and/or structures is essential; aerospace background is preferred, though strong composites experience from automotive or advanced manufacturing is also valued.
Required expertise includes working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, quality tools (RCCA, Process Mapping, FAI), and quality methodologies (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D, supplier auditing). You demonstrate strong attention to detail, ability to build cross-functional relationships, and willingness to be based on-site at a European supplier facility with domestic and international travel as needed.
Desired experience includes direct exposure to composite manufacturing processes (layup, bagging, curing, bonding, machining, NDI), driving business improvement, supporting new product introduction and design changes, evaluating supplier capacity and industrialization scaling, and familiarity with PLM/ERP systems.
