Archer Technologies, an aerospace company headquartered in San Jose, is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. The company is seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to be embedded on-site at a key supplier partner in Europe.
In this role, you will serve as the primary quality presence at the supplier facility, conducting comprehensive quality assurance and quality control activities across composite and structural component manufacturing. You will be the on-site quality point of contact between the supplier and Archer's internal Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Program Management teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing supplier quality oversight activities including source inspection, process audits, and First Article Inspection (FAI) for composite and structural components
- Reviewing and dispositioning nonconforming material, driving containment actions, and verifying corrective action effectiveness
- Applying quality assurance principles and technical integrity oversight to ensure requirements are met and quality control mechanisms are in place
- Supporting development of project and business-stream quality strategies, measurement frameworks, and programs across the full project lifecycle
- Leading and supporting quality investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities
- Conducting investigations and reporting on quality-related issues as required
You bring 5+ years of proven experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Quality Engineering within complex manufacturing environments, with primary experience in composites and/or structures. An aerospace background is preferred; strong composites experience from automotive or advanced-manufacturing industries is also valued. You hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
You have working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, familiarity with quality tools (RCCA, Process Mapping, FAI), and knowledge of methodologies including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D, and supplier auditing. Direct experience with composite manufacturing processes (layup, bagging, curing/autoclave, bonding, machining, NDI) is highly valued. You are detail-oriented, able to build relationships across multi-discipline teams, and willing to be based on-site at a European supplier facility with domestic and international travel as needed.
