Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking a Senior Supervisor of Facilities Operations for the U.S. West region. This role leads a regional facilities team and manages day-to-day operations across multiple office, engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, hangar, and warehouse environments, including secure and classified areas.
You will directly supervise and develop Facilities Coordinators, setting priorities, establishing service expectations, and conducting regular performance feedback and development planning. You'll build cross-site coverage plans, maintain continuity during absences and growth periods, and create a culture of ownership, proactive communication, and continuous improvement.
Operationally, you will lead facilities across the regional portfolio, maintaining safe and productive workplaces while coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, work orders, building services, utilities, and landlord obligations. You'll serve as the regional escalation point for outages, service failures, and operational risks, implementing global and regional standards and procedures. You'll coordinate with landlords, property managers, technicians, vendors, and internal partners to resolve recurring issues.
You will plan and deliver regional facilities projects below capital thresholds, including minor improvements, space reconfigurations, furniture deployments, moves/adds/changes, and lifecycle replacements. For major capital projects, you'll provide site requirements, local coordination, shutdown planning, and readiness support, participating in commissioning and formal turnover.
Vendor and financial management responsibilities include directing regional contractors and service providers, monitoring service quality and performance, reviewing invoices, tracking purchase orders, and supporting monthly forecasts. You'll identify cost risks and opportunities to improve value without compromising safety or compliance.
You will partner with Global EH&S and Security to implement workplace-safety, environmental, physical-security, access-control, and emergency-preparedness requirements. You'll confirm contractors meet site access, safety, security, and insurance requirements, support inspections and audits, and escalate material risks promptly.
As the principal regional facilities contact, you'll communicate planned outages, construction impacts, and service changes to site leaders and employees. You'll resolve recurring service issues, gather feedback, and balance customer needs with enterprise standards and budget priorities.
You'll maintain accurate regional reporting for work orders, maintenance, vendors, budget, projects, and incidents. You'll participate in governance forums, maintain risk and action registers, and use operating data and root-cause analysis to improve reliability and service quality.
The role is primarily on-site with approximately 20% regional travel. You may work in office, engineering, manufacturing, warehouse, hangar, laboratory, or secure environments. Occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or on-call availability is required for critical facility conditions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in facilities, business, operations, engineering, construction, communications, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
- 3+ years of progressive experience in facilities, workplace operations, property operations, project coordination, vendor management, or closely related operating function
- Demonstrated leadership of people, projects, vendors, or cross-functional teams through direct supervision, work direction, training, mentoring, or comparable responsibility
- Experience supporting multiple sites, complex campuses, or multiple concurrent operational workstreams with competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver workplace improvements, moves, service rollouts, or minor facility projects
- Experience coordinating vendors or contractors and managing scopes, schedules, service expectations, purchase orders, invoices, and budget documentation
- Working knowledge of facility operations and commercial building services (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, access control)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and ability to work effectively with employees, technical partners, vendors, and senior stakeholders
- Ability to use work-management, project, collaboration, and reporting tools
- Ability to work primarily on-site, travel throughout assigned region, and support after-hours response when required
PREFERRED:
- Prior experience directly supervising employees or leading a distributed site-services team
- Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, engineering, technology, laboratory, or mission-critical environments
- Experience supporting secure, controlled-access, or classified facilities; ICD 705 familiarity
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, integrated workplace management systems, or building management systems
- Experience supporting facility openings, expansions, relocations, construction coordination, or commissioning
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements, contractor-safety practices, emergency response, and corrective-action management
- Professional credentials: CFM, FMP, SFP, OSHA 30, LEED, or project-management certification
