Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking a Senior Supervisor for Facilities Operations to lead safe, reliable, and consistent facilities management across the U.S. Central region. This is a hands-on people-leadership role that directly supervises Facilities Coordinators and manages regional service delivery across multiple office types including engineering spaces, manufacturing environments, laboratories, hangars, warehouses, and secure/classified areas.
Key responsibilities include:
**Team Leadership & Development**: Directly supervise and develop Facilities Coordinators, set priorities and expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones and performance feedback, build cross-site coverage plans, and create a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
**Regional Operations Management**: Lead day-to-day facilities operations across the assigned portfolio, maintain safe and operationally ready workplaces, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, serve as the regional escalation point for outages and service failures, and implement global and regional standards across all locations.
**Project Leadership**: Plan and deliver regional facilities projects below capital thresholds, including minor improvements, space reconfigurations, furniture deployments, and workplace refreshes. Provide site requirements and coordination support for major capital projects, and participate in commissioning and formal turnover.
**Vendor & Financial Management**: Direct and coordinate regional vendors, contractors, and service providers; monitor service quality and performance; review invoices and track purchase orders; and support monthly forecasts and budget documentation.
**Compliance & Safety**: Partner with Global EH&S and Security to implement workplace safety, environmental, physical-security, and compliance requirements. Confirm contractors meet site access, safety, and security requirements, and escalate material risks promptly.
**Stakeholder Communication**: Serve as the principal regional Facilities contact for site leaders and employees; communicate planned outages and service changes proactively; resolve recurring issues; and build trusted relationships while maintaining enterprise practices.
**Performance & Continuous Improvement**: Maintain accurate regional reporting for work orders, maintenance, vendors, budget, and incidents. Participate in governance reviews, use operating data and root-cause analysis to improve reliability and service quality, and share lessons learned across regions.
The role requires primarily on-site presence with approximately 20% regional travel. Occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or on-call availability is required for critical facility conditions or business needs.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in facilities, business, operations, engineering, construction, communications, or related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience
- 3+ years of progressive experience in facilities, workplace operations, property operations, project coordination, vendor management, or closely related operating function
- Demonstrated leadership of people, projects, vendors, or cross-functional teams through direct supervision, work direction, training, mentoring, or comparable responsibility
- Experience supporting multiple sites, complex campuses, or multiple concurrent operational workstreams with competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver workplace improvements, moves, service rollouts, or minor facility projects
- Experience coordinating vendors or contractors and managing scopes, schedules, service expectations, purchase orders, and budget documentation
- Working knowledge of facility operations and commercial building services (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, access control)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and ability to work effectively with employees, technical partners, vendors, and senior stakeholders
- Ability to use work-management, project, collaboration, and reporting tools
- Ability to work primarily on-site, travel throughout the region, and support after-hours response when required
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Prior experience directly supervising employees or leading a distributed site-services team
- Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, engineering, technology, laboratory, aviation, or mission-critical environments
- Experience supporting secure, controlled-access, or classified facilities; ICD 705 familiarity is a plus
