Plus One Robotics is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to ensure their robotic systems—combining software and hardware—are dependable and of the highest quality.
You will deploy and test software on Linux-based industrial PCs (IPCs), build and maintain automated test suites, analyze logs and stack traces to pinpoint failures, and verify that products work end-to-end in physical robot cells. You will collaborate closely with developers to find and verify fixes, with product owners to confirm products meet intended specifications, and with customers to understand real-world usage.
Key responsibilities include:
**Software Testing & Automation**
- Define and implement testing strategies covering functional, regression, integration, performance, and stability testing
- Create detailed test plans, test cases, and documentation from requirements and acceptance criteria
- Develop and maintain automated test suites; integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines for pre-release validation
- Build internal tools and scripts to optimize QA workflows, test data collection, and log analysis
**Deployment, Debugging & Defect Management**
- Install, deploy, and configure software builds on Linux-based IPCs and test systems
- Read stack traces and application logs to isolate failures and deliver actionable findings to developers
- Identify, document, and track bugs in GitLab with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence
- Use git and GitLab daily to check out branches, review merge requests, and manage issues
**Hardware & System Testing**
- Perform hands-on testing of POR robotic systems (including InductOne), verifying software, electrical, and mechanical subsystems work together end-to-end
- Troubleshoot at the system level to determine whether faults originate in software, electrical, or mechanical components
**Collaboration & Leadership**
- Advocate for customers and end users by maintaining high quality and usability standards
- Work with product owners on acceptance and release sign-off
- Present QA data and test results to stakeholders in clear, accessible formats
- Mentor junior teammates and interns on QA best practices and technical guidance
The role is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, in-office at San Antonio HQ. Some travel is expected for customer support and deployments. The work environment includes occasional exposure to robotic systems and moving mechanical parts; noise levels may be loud at times.
**Requirements**
*Required:*
- Strong software QA fundamentals: test strategy, test plan development, test case design, bug reporting, regression testing, fix verification, and acceptance testing
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar language for test automation
- Working proficiency with Linux command line (file system navigation, permissions, SSH, service management, log reading)
- Experience installing and deploying software builds or packages to test/production systems
- Experience with git and GitLab (or GitHub): branches, tags, merge requests, issue tracking
- Experience testing hardware/physical systems, or demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on hardware testing
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- 5+ years of QA or test engineering experience, majority in software testing
- 2+ years of hands-on software test automation development
- Experience testing products combining software and hardware (robotics, automation, embedded systems)
*Preferred:*
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Pytest, Puppeteer, Playwright, or similar
- Familiarity with C++
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI
- Experience with Docker or containerized deployments
