Salary: USD 130,000 - 175,000 / annual

Terran Orbital, a leading satellite manufacturer serving aerospace and defense industries, seeks a Senior Project Engineer for Command & Data Handling (CDH) to join their Irvine, CA facility. Reporting to the Sr. IPT Lead - CDH, you will drive cross-functional coordination for the design and production of complex command and data handling modules, serving as the primary liaison across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management. Key responsibilities include developing detailed task breakdowns with duration, dependencies, and resource requirements for engineering work packages; leading planning and execution of module development programs aligned with technical requirements, budget, and schedule; proactively identifying issues and driving structured problem-solving and root-cause investigations; preparing and presenting development status reports, risk assessments, and escalation briefings to senior leadership; preparing and presenting technical reviews at PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, and customer reviews; generating weekly status reports, burn-down charts, and progress dashboards; partnering with program managers to manage cross-program dependencies and mitigation plans; and organizing and facilitating technical reviews, design checkpoints, and key decision forums. You will demonstrate the ability to lead without formal authority, drive accountability, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. This role requires strong understanding of hardware development lifecycles and manufacturing release processes, including build preparation, tooling/test equipment availability, configuration-controlled releases, and transition from development to production. Excellent communication skills are essential to translate complex technical issues for both engineering teams and executives. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline (Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering) - 5+ years of project or program management experience in hardware development environment - Experience in project or program management in hardware development and production, supporting both engineering design and manufacturing execution - Strong understanding of hardware development lifecycles and manufacturing release processes - Demonstrated ability to lead without formal authority, drive accountability, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines - Experience with program management tools (MS Project, Jira, Confluence) and ability to produce high-quality presentations - Excellent communication skills - Must be U.S. Person or lawful permanent resident in compliance with U.S. government space technology export regulations PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with satellite bus, payload, avionics, or aircraft development - Familiarity with FPGA, microprocessors, and high-reliability hardware - Knowledge of EVMS, risk management, and configuration control - Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/DFA, control plans, and process flows - Exposure to APQP, PPAP, or similar structured product introduction processes Note: Position may require current United States National Security clearance or eligibility for such clearance.
