Archer Technologies is seeking a Senior Product Quality Engineer to join its Quality Engineering team in San Jose. The role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of product quality throughout the lifecycle of Archer's all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which is designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring powertrain, components, assemblies, and systems meet design, quality, safety, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements
- Collaborating with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth transitions from design to production, providing technical guidance on quality issues
- Supporting development and rollout of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques including PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Leading the establishment of inspection plans and conducting First Article Inspections in compliance with SAE AS9102
- Facilitating Material Review Board dispositions and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Identifying root causes, leading corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and developing quality performance reports
- Developing metrics and KPIs to assess manufacturing system health and drive continuous improvement
- Identifying potential risks and working with cross-functional teams to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans
- Supporting team training on quality standards, practices, and tools
- Assisting in planning and execution of FAA conformity inspections and certification processes
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering with 4+ years of experience. Candidates should have experience creating and approving first article inspections, working with MES systems, creating electronic inspection plans, and implementing APQP methodologies (Control Plans, PPAPs, DFM, MSAs, PFMEAs, DFMEAs, SPC). Experience in aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is essential.
