FinQuery is an AI-powered accounting automation platform specializing in contract-driven accounting (leases, prepaids, accruals). The Senior Product Accounting Manager is a technical accounting expert embedded in the Product Accounting team, reporting to the VP of Accounting Standards & Advocacy. This role bridges accounting standards and software development, translating complex US GAAP, IFRS, GASB, and international frameworks into product requirements, test cases, and customer-facing documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and QA to translate accounting standards into software requirements and test scenarios across FinQuery's product portfolio
• Research and resolve ambiguous accounting questions escalated from across the organization, documenting reasoning for future reference
• Monitor FASB, IASB, FRC, GASB publications and emerging guidance; brief Product and leadership proactively on new standards
• Develop accounting foundations for new product areas, including example scenarios, edge-case documentation, and requirements
• Leverage large language models and AI tools to accelerate research and documentation while ensuring accuracy before customer delivery
• Participate in prospect and customer calls to articulate and defend how software handles complex accounting scenarios
• Create customer bulletins, knowledge base content, and internal briefings explaining accounting concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Validate new accounting features end-to-end and drive anomalies to resolution
• Mentor junior team members and elevate the accounting expertise of cross-functional partners
This is a strictly accounting-focused role requiring deep technical accounting expertise. You will influence product decisions through accounting judgment and work independently on multiple concurrent research and project workstreams.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
• Active CPA license required
• Four to six years of progressive experience in Big 4 audit/assurance or senior corporate accounting
• Extensive background in technical accounting research, documentation, and standard application
• Deep knowledge of corporate debt structures and accounting treatments, particularly complex debt arrangements typical of PE-backed companies
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP with ability to translate standards into plain language for non-accounting audiences
• Working knowledge of IFRS and international frameworks preferred; GASB experience a plus
• Ability to research technical accounting guidance independently and produce documented conclusions
• Proficiency with AI tools and LLMs, including effective prompt writing and critical output evaluation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical, executive, and customer-facing audiences
• Ability to lead cross-functional working groups and influence outcomes without direct authority
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent research and project workstreams independently
