Distro is seeking a Senior Paymaster for Sports & Entertainment to manage end-to-end payroll operations across multiple entertainment projects including film, television, live events, and digital media. This role is central to ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing while maintaining strict compliance with union agreements (SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, IATSE) and complex entertainment labor laws. Key responsibilities include: - Overseeing payroll processing for cast, crew, and production employees across union and non-union workers - Managing payroll across multiple jurisdictions and locations with proper tax withholdings, deductions, and benefits administration - Ensuring compliance with entertainment-specific labor regulations, guild agreements, and state/federal tax laws - Generating detailed payroll reports and managing union compliance reporting - Responding to regulatory audits and inquiries from government agencies - Identifying and implementing process improvements using payroll technology and automation - Collaborating with IT and development teams on payroll system enhancements and troubleshooting - Serving as subject matter expert on entertainment payroll processes and procedures - Staying current with changes in labor laws, union contracts, and industry standards The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in entertainment industry payroll operations and a track record of managing complex, multi-jurisdictional payroll in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Requirements: - 2–4 years of experience processing payroll within the entertainment industry - Strong knowledge of entertainment industry payroll practices, union agreements, and applicable labor laws - In-depth knowledge of guild and union rules (SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, IATSE, etc.) - Proficiency with entertainment industry payroll software and accounting systems - Strong understanding of tax laws, wage and hour laws, and payroll best practices - Experience with process automation and payroll technology solutions - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail and accuracy - Intermediate to strong skills in MS Office, including Excel and Outlook - Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
