SingleStore is seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to lead the Infrastructure Systems Engineering team, which maintains and operates the company's private data center environment and test platform infrastructure. The team runs millions of tests monthly and manages petabytes of storage data while scaling capacity and reliability.
This is a hands-on technical management role combining people leadership with deep technical involvement. You will guide team priorities, coordinate execution, and actively participate in architecture decisions, troubleshooting, and incident response.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading day-to-day engineering operations for data center and infrastructure systems with accountability for reliability and execution quality
- Managing and mentoring a small systems engineering team while remaining technically engaged
- Owning core infrastructure domains spanning compute, storage, networking, and orchestration
- Driving operational improvements in hardware reliability, installation standards, and lifecycle management
- Designing and continuously improving provisioning, configuration management, and infrastructure automation systems
- Coordinating with internal partners, contractors, and vendors on infrastructure design and deployment
- Overseeing technical incident response, root cause analysis, and systemic reliability improvements
- Establishing engineering discipline around task tracking, documentation, and work categorization
- Partnering with adjacent teams on shared infrastructure and system health visibility
- Contributing to hiring and team development
Required qualifications include 7+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure software, or platform engineering with hands-on technical depth; 2+ years leading engineers or technical teams; strong experience operating infrastructure in data centers, storage platforms, networking, virtualization, or distributed systems; ability to troubleshoot complex cross-boundary failures; experience with infrastructure automation and Terraform; Kubernetes migration experience; data center networking knowledge; systems programming proficiency (C, C++, Go) plus scripting skills; and strong Unix command-line fluency.
