Amperesand is building intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products based on advanced Solid State Transformer technology to address the critical gap in modern energy systems. The company is commercializing hardware and software solutions that enable faster deployment, greater efficiency, and dynamic energy management for data centers, EV charging, renewables, microgrids, and industrial installations.
The Senior Manager of Quality Engineering will lead quality operations from R&D through mass production at Amperesand's manufacturing facility in Reno, Nevada. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building and scaling a world-class quality system and team to ensure reliable, industry-leading power conversion systems that meet the stringent requirements of energy grid and hyperscaler customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and leading data-driven quality engineering teams (engineers, supervisors, technicians)
- Mentoring and developing talent; establishing training programs for quality tools and methodologies
- Establishing and tracking quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting dashboards for manufacturing processes
- Leading internal and external audits; managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Defining and managing the quality plan (APQP) to design, implement, and validate product and process quality
- Leading root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone analysis
- Deploying Statistical Process Control (SPC) across critical parameters
- Establishing process capability studies (Cp, Cpk) and driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Developing supplier quality requirements and incoming qualification protocols (FAI and PPAP support)
- Developing and maintaining quality labs for metrology and material analysis
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of manufacturing quality leadership experience in high-volume, high-speed production environments, with a minimum of 3 years leading engineering teams. Background in power electronics and medium voltage industries is highly valued. A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience) is required. This role demands someone who thrives on building new products, organizations, and systems from the ground up, with a strong commitment to data-driven problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
